Santa Gaute Wants You!

We have an event in Oslo coming up in January where we will present lots of information about the game, give plenty of hands-on time with the game itself, and answer quite a few of those unanswered questions. But we did save one slot for the most important member of our communities: an actual fan.

So, Santa Gaute and Funcom will fly one lucky fan out to our headquarters in Oslo to spend a few days with the developers and see lovely Norway.

Just to give a brief overview of the event, you will arrive on Thursday, 17 January 2008 and be treated to a weekend of presentations, hands-on time with the game, individual time with key developers and Funcom staff, some time to play tourist, and other exciting events. On Sunday, January 20th, your flight will depart at a reasonable time and, upon landing, we’re confident you will proceed immediately to your computer to brag.

Since you’ll be mingling with exalted personages, you’ll be treated like one, which means sitting beside them in info sessions, playing with them during the hands-on time, asking lots of questions and taking lots of pictures, and otherwise living the high life for a few days, then becoming Info-King of the Forums while all bask in your sauna-honed glow of health and knowledge.

A prize this special requires a certain kind of commitment, so we want to see some creativity in the entries, be it videos, essays, paintings, arts and crafts, interpretive dance, anything Conan related that tells us why Santa Gaute should stop at your house this Christmas and give you a trip to Oslo.

While we only have one trip to give away, we also have some very special prizes to entries that amuse us, entertain us, or make us laugh. The most precious thing in the world.

That’s right.

Your judges have piping hot General Beta keys to give away as part of this contest.

We will give one to the winner and there will be 25 invitations for entertaining French contest entries, 25 invitations for entertaining German contest entries, and 25 invitations for entertaining English contest entries.

Please email contest@ageofconan.com with the subject Santa Gaute (Santa Gaute for English, Santa Gaute (F) for French and Santa Gaute (D) for German entries) and include your name, address, telephone number, email address, as well as either your entry or (if it’s a big video or otherwise can’t be emailed) a link to your entry.

We will take submissions until 14 December 2007. Winners will be announced on or around 21 December 2007. For complete rules and legal details, please read the text below.

FUNCOM GmbH  CONTEST RULES  2007

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.

All winners must be 18 years of age or older, unless otherwise stated and/or posted.  Contest void where prohibited by law.


1. Entering Contests and Choosing and Contacting Winners
Chance of winning is determined by number of entries received.

Entrants must send entries using the correct contest entry email address, subject line, and any other specific entry information requested in the contest announcement. Funcom is not responsible for and will not consider incomplete or incorrect entries, or emails sent but not received by Funcom for any reason, as potential contest winners. Submissions must be received by December  14, 2007 by 11:59PM GMT. Entries or links to entries must be submitted via email to contest@ageofconan.com with the subject Santa Gaute for English, Santa Gaute (F) for French and Santa Gaute (D) for German entries.

Winners of all contests will be contacted at the “sender” email address used to enter the contest, and the person receiving and replying to the winner announcement email will be considered the winner upon contest judging to be held on or about December 19, 2007. Judges decisions are final. Only one entry per email address used to send the email will be considered for contest entry, unless multiple entries are specifically allowed in the contest posting. Unless otherwise specified in an individual contest post, no person may enter any contest more than once using multiple email addresses.

Failure to respond to award notification within 72 hrs shall mean that the winner forfeits the prize.


2. Submission of photo, text or other content for Contests
Entries selected for display and to win “best of” contests and any other contests requiring photo, text or other content from the entrants will be judged entirely at the discretion of Funcom.

By submitting any photo or information to Funcom, you hereby grant to Funcom and its affiliates, subsidiaries, licensees and assigns, an irrevocable, perpetual and royalty-free right to use, reproduce, edit, display, transmit, prepare derivative works of, modify, publish and otherwise make use of the submitted photo or other information in any and all media, whether now known or hereinafter created, throughout the world and for any purpose. In addition to other things, the rights granted to Funcom includes but is not limited to the right to resize, crop, censor, compress, edit, feature, caption, affix logos to, and to otherwise alter or make use of the submitted photo;

By submitting any photo or information to Funcom, you hereby represent and warrant that the submitted photo or information does not and shall not infringe on any copyright, any rights of privacy or publicity of any person, or any other right of any third party, and you have the right to grant any and all rights and licenses granted to Funcom herein, including but not limited to all necessary rights under copyright, free and clear of any claims or encumbrances;

You acknowledge and agree that Funcom shall have no obligation to post, display or otherwise make publicly available any photo or information submitted by you, and may, in its sole and unfettered discretion, remove, edit, modify or delete any photo or information that you submit.

You hereby agree to hold Funcom and its affiliates, subsidiaries, licensees sponsors and assigns harmless from and against, and hereby waive any right to pursue, any claims of any nature arising in connection with the inclusion in, publication via or display on any Funcom site, or any other use authorized under these Terms, of any photo or information submitted to Funcom by you;

Photos or information submitted by you to the Site shall be the property of Funcom and shall have no obligation to preserve, return or otherwise make available to you or others any photos or information so submitted.


3. Awarding Prizes
Winner will be notified and announcement made on or around December 21 2007 no later than 11:59PM GST.

Winners are solely responsible for all taxes and/or fees that may be incurred. Funcom will award a ticket for flight and hotel accommodations. Any and all other expenses incurred are the sole responsibility of award winner. Award winner must have a passport and verify proper and legal picture identification.

Winners may not request substitutions of prize winnings. The approximate value of this prize is $2500.

Neither Funcom or sponsors may be held liable for any warranty, costs, damage, injury, or any other claims incurred as a result of usage of any winners of a prize once possession has been taken of the product by winner. Funcom is not liable for any loss arising out of or in connection with or resulting from any contest promoted by Funcom.

If the specified prize becomes unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, Funcom may substitute a prize of like or equal value.  Funcom reserves the right to alter , suspend or discontinue contest at their discretion.

Management, employees and families of Funcom  are prohibited from winning any prizes awarded by Funcom.
